Elopements and the couples who embraced them, helped us keep going and working and doing what we love. Although we never wanted to claim to be any sort of special “type” of wedding photographer and we still don’t, we photograph weddings, that’s it, 2020 certainly made us appreciate the value and awesomeness of elopements. Your wedding day is about celebrating your quality of love and not about the quantity of space where you profess it, or the dollar amount you spend create it.Ģ020, the year the elopement became an “essential worker”. So go ahead and plan that elopement or mini-wedding, make it yours create some killer vows (Weethne, we are still crying over yours), have a family member marry you (or ask Weethne’s brother, his ceremony was something special) and create a beautiful space in your home or family home, maybe in the back yard or living room. In the end, the day you say “I do” is something to celebrate and that comes in so many different, beautiful forms and 2020 reminded us of that. For even more DIY excitement, Molly (and her family) were able to create a warm ambiance by using what they had, borrowing from family and friends and scouring local and online shops for that just right mix + match perfection (see below for links). Nothing a little muscle, creativity and love can’t handle. You can have the arch framing your ceremony, the gorgeous flowers, the special dress and a stylized table that any guest would want to be invited to and you can do it anywhere! In fact, Molly + Wheetne were able to have a beautiful ceremony and dinner all in the comfort of Molly’s parents living room, yes, that’s right, their living room. This was a mini wedding that proved you don’t have to forgo special details, design and style at your “at home” celebration. So, on their original date, together with the love and support of their family, they planned a beautiful, intimate ceremony with a candlelit dinner party to follow all in the comfort of Molly’s childhood home in Stratford, Connecticut. As many before them (and many after) Molly + Weethne had to postpone their large wedding due to COVID and although the delay brought with it some disappointment it didn’t dull their spirit. These two will warm your hearts within moments of meeting them and they brought every ounce of that warmth into their intimate wedding day. You can’t get more cozy than an “At Home” mini-wedding and it seems Molly + Weethne set out to prove it. To end the day out we just walked around and enjoyed the property and let Zoe do a bit of celebrating herself. Each family member had a few moments to speak directly to Golnessa & Ali after the ceremony to congratulate and tell sweet stories about each of them, it was really beautiful to witness and capture. Their ceremony was streamed so their family and friends, near and far, could be a part of their special day. Their venue, Foxfire Mountain House, located in the Catskill Mountains in the beautiful Hudson Valley, is everything you could want for a private ceremony with its tranquil and private woodland surroundings and unique, vintage aesthetic, it’s a romantics dream. Golnessa & Ali knew that a big, formal affair was not in order any time soon, so they hopped on the elopement wagon with their dog Zoe in toe. This new journey would have us capturing so many beautifully simple and private elopements and we were here for it. At the start of 2021 wedding season, we knew we were embarking on a new type of journey as wedding photographers.
